George Clooney Reveals His Twins’ Personalities And The Inspiration Behind Their Names

“We figured these kids are going to be looked at a lot”

George and Amal Clooney hit the red carpet at the 74th Venice Film Festival over the weekend in signature style – George in an Armani tux and Amal in violet Versace – but not before Clooney sat down with Entertainment Tonight to wax lyrical about his three-month-old twins.

“They start out with a personality right off the bat,” Clooney said, revealing that Alexander “is a thug already… he’s a moose! Literally, he just sits and eats.”

Little Ella, however, is “very elegant, and all eyes,” according to Clooney, who added, “She looks like Amal, thank God.”

In the interview, the 56-year-old actor opened up about the names he and his wife chose for their children. “We figured these kids are going to be looked at a lot and watched and have their every move sort of judged… so we looked for some sort of normal names. We didn’t have any great inspiration. It wasn’t Alexander the Great and Ella Fitzgerald.”

Clooney also gave a glimpse into how parenthood has changed him. “None of it is real until all of a sudden they’re standing there covered in slime and crying,” he reflects. “You’re like, wait a minute, what is that? We were just two and now we’re four… everything changes pretty quickly.”
