But the little girl from Florida accidentally pulled the trigger of a gun in the purse and fatally shot herself.

Nelly’s father, 22-year-old Shane Zoller, recounted the devastating experience in an interview with the The Tampa Bay Times. His daughter had been staying with her grandparents, Michael and Christie Zoller at the time.

“I was driving to pick her up with her bathing suit in my car to take her to the splash pads,” Zoller’s said.

“When I pulled up, that’s when I saw all the police lights.”

He added: “She just wanted some damn candy”.

According to TIME, police are investigating the case but said they have little reason to doubt Shane’s version of events.

The father shared custody of Nelly with her mother. He said the little girl loved cartoons and playing with her puppy.

“She loved to help Daddy work on the car,” Shane recounted. “She would hand me tools. But she also really liked doing her makeup.”
