Bachelor couple Laura Byrne and Matty J welcomed their first child together over a month ago, and since then have been open about the experiences that come with being first-time parents.
Matty previously spoke about the labour being “aggressive” after Laura needed to be induced, and the emotions that came with seeing his baby for the first time. Now, Laura is getting candid about the birth of daughter Marlie-Mae revealed that it was a very painful experience.

When a fan asked her online for “Tips on natural birth? Or did you go pain-free?” she replied that she was a big supporter of pain relief.
“I momentarily thought I would have a drug-free birth, and then I went into labour,” she said. “And I was like, ‘give me the drugs. All of them. Give me the menu of drugs. Thank you’.”
When another follower asked what “the best and worst thing about giving birth” was, she replied, “the best bit would be having a baby, and the worst bit would be, everything else.”
Following the birth, Matty opened up on his radio show about seeing Laura go through the pain. “It’s awful watching your partner going through so much pain and you can’t do anything except hold their hand and kiss their forehead and tell them it’s going to be ok,” he shared.
“As Laura was about to give birth they then realised the baby was…it was facing the wrong way, and the heart rate was beginning to drop a little as well,” he added. “All of sudden there were six doctors in the room, you don’t really know what is going on because it’s your first time, next thing they are saying ‘we need to get this baby out now, come on Laura big pushes’.”
“The only thing you want as a parent is to have a healthy child. It was really quite scary in the final moments when Laura was giving those final pushes, thankfully we didn’t have any major complications.”
