Since the news was announced that Rebecca Yarros’ bestselling fantasy romance series, Fourth Wing, is being adapted into a TV series, fans have been busy wondering who will be cast in their beloved character’s roles.
The five-book Empyrean series, which was only released in mid-2023, went viral on BookTok and soon became a New York Times best seller. Now, the beloved series is being turned into a TV Show with Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society.
What Is Fourth Wing About?
Fourth Wing follows 20-year-old Violet Sorrengail, who is forced by her mother to give up her dream of becoming a scribe and instead, train to become a dragon rider at the brutal Basgiath War College.
The story has everything you could want in a fantasy romance novel, including an enemies-to-lovers storyline, captivating worldbuilding and of course, lots of magic.
Who Is Cast In The Fourth Wing TV Adaption?
At this stage, we don’t know who will be playing our favourite characters.
However, Yarros has given us a hint about who will be playing Violet’s love interest, Xaden, when she said he will be played by a person of colour.
“We’re just going to say he’s POC; we’re just going to leave it at that,” Yarros told Variety. “I didn’t rise to the bait of a lot of those posts, which I think probably got me some flack, but I knew we were already in development for TV, and I want to make sure that role is open to as much diversity as possible. So I was never going to give the readers my vision because I know that once you give the readers your vision, that’s what they’re gonna stick to. And I wanted to make sure we left it open to as much diversity as possible.”
In October 2024, Yarros doubled down on her castign requirements in an audience Q&A session, saying, “They know how staunch I am against whitewashing Xaden, and so I think that’s the biggest thing.”
Who Do Fans Want Cast In The Fourth Wing TV Show?
Just because we don’t know who’s going to be cast in the adaptation yet doesn’t mean fans haven’t made their own cast suggestions.
Below, we share the most popular fan casts for the Fourth Wing adaptation.
Violet Sorrengail

Danielle Rose Russell was an early fan favourite when it comes to the role of Violet. The American actress has starred in the TV series, Legacies and The Originals, as well as films like Wonder and Aloha. However, many fans have since begun favouring Mackenzie Foy, known best for playing the love-child of Edward and Bella Cullen in the Twilight films.
Other stars put forward by fans also include Freya Allan, Josephine Langford, India Eisley and Sadie Sink.
Xaden Riorson

When it comes to Xaden, the series’ fans are more indecisive about the who they see playing the character.
Fan speculation online was growing (and divided) over the potential casting of Australian Heartbreak High star, Josh Heuston. The tip off came when eagle-eyed fans spotted a dragon emoji appear in the star’s Instagram bio as well as following the book’s author, Yarros.
In recent days, the same use of the dragon emoji has seen fans cast speculation over the potential casting of German actor, Emilio Sakraya in the role of Xaden. Comments lit up an Instagram post from the 28-year-old which showed him working out, simply using the green dragon emoji as a caption.
Over on TikTok fans shared their theories that it could be a subtle casting clue, with Sakraya even going as far as to like one of the clips about the theory. Is he toying with us? Is it another clue? Who knows.
The Kissing Booth’s Taylor Zakhar Perez has appeared to be a popular choice as well as Shadowhunter’s Matthew Daddario.
Dain Aetos

Fans seem to like Hero Fiennes-Tiffin, Freddie Thorp and Brenton Thwaites in the role of Dain, Violet’s childhood best friend. Other names of mention have also included Josh Hutcherson, Charlie Rowe, and Dacre Montgomery.
Rhiannon

When it comes to Violet’s best friend at the Riders Quadrant at Basgiath War College, fans are torn between Tati Gabrielle, Ella Balinska and Amandla Stenberg.
