Gird your loins, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially in the works and the news just keeps getting better with almost the entire original cast making a return.
With the sequel picking up some 20 years after its original premiered in 2006, there’s also new faces facing the wrath of the inimitable Miranda Priestly. Let’s just hope they know better than to suggest florals for the Spring shoot.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 Cast

Patrick Brammall: New
Australian comedy favourite, Patrick Brammall has officially been added to the star-studded Devil Wears Prada 2 lineup.
While Brammall’s exact role is still being kept under wraps, his presence alongside fellow Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-creator, Rachel Bloom can only mean good things are brewing.

Simone Ashley: New
Hot off the presses, it has now been confirmed that Bridgerton fave, Simone Ashley will be joining the sequel, per Deadline.
Exactly what role Simone will play in the film is yet to be revealed, but it’s casting perfection, if you ask. Perhaps she’ll be following in the pump-clad footsteps of Andrea Sachs with an assistant role?

Pauline Chalamet, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux & B.J. Novak: New
Variety has revealed a star-studded slew of new names joining The Devil Wears Prada 2 cast including Sex Lives Of College Girls’ Pauline Chalamet, Charlies Angels stars Lucy Liu and Justin Theroux and The Office‘s B.J. Novak. Little is known about any of the roles or characters, but they make for welcome and exciting additions to the film, no less.

Anne Hathaway As Andrea Sachs: Returning
Hathaway will reprise her pivotal role in the film franchise, but exactly what awaits our once fashion inept journalist remains to be seen.
We’re expecting to find her writing thoughtful feature pieces for The Times or in the process of releasing her second book.

Meryl Streep As Miranda Priestly: Returning
What would a sequel be without the ‘devil’ herself? And from the short synopsis fans have been privy to, it sounds as though Priestly is in for a tumultuous power struggle – against her former assistant, Emily, no less.
Miranda, played by Streep, finds herself at odds with Emily as “they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement.”

Emily Blunt As Emily Charlton: Returning
Honestly, there’s no one we’re more excited to see return than Emily (both character and actor). Now a high powered executive in the fashion industry, seeing the tables turned on her former boss is something we’re expecting to delight in.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in June, Blunt said of her character: “It’s so weird, I haven’t even read a script. I don’t know. I’m just like, ‘Where is she?’ I don’t know.”

Stanley Tucci As Nigel: Returning
Oh Nigel, you were done so wrong. We can only hope as Stanley returns to the beloved role, that we’ll see his character get some retribution.
With details on the film tightly under wraps, there’s little we know about what Nigel’s been up to – we’ll have to wait and see.

Adrian Grenier As Nate: Not Returning
I think we can all agree that Nate was the true villain of The Devil Wears Prada. He was unsupportive, selfish and judgemental of his girlfriend Andie as she struggled to navigate her new workplace and chase her dream.
Given Nate and Andie broke up at the end of the film, it’s not surprising to hear Grenier won’t be reprising his role. Good riddance, Nate.

Kenneth Branagh: New
Another new casting announcement came with the confirmation of Branagh joining the sequel. No other details were revealed – will he play a pivotal role at Runway magazine or a potential love interest? Who knows.
