Love Story, Ryan Murphy‘s highly-anticipated new series about the iconic romance between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette is finally here.
As one of the most intriguing and closely-watched couples of the ’90s, interest in the new show was immediate. Per the announcement, Love Story may become anthological, similar to that of Murphy’s series, Monster, and follows the “sweeping true love stories that captured the world’s attention”, starting off by “depicting the whirlwind courtship and marriage of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.”
The series will showcase their entire relationship timeline, starting with their whirlwind courtship, documenting the immense pressures brought on by crushing tabloid attention, and ending with the tragic plane crash the shook the world in 1999.
“What started out as a beautiful union for the young couple, widely regarded as American royalty, began to fray under the stress of the relentless microscope and navel-gaze of tabloid media,” the release reads. “The pressures of their careers and rumoured family discord ended with their tragic deaths when his private plane crashed into the ocean on a hazy summer night off the coast of Massachusetts.”

If first trailer for the show is anything to go by, the show will centre on the simmering chemistry between JFK Jr. and Carolyn and their subsequent relationship as they navigate the perils of notoriety.
As a montage portrays the couple’s courtship, a voiceover can be heard saying: “there’s a lot of trade offs being with someone like that [JFK]. Shiny people, they belong to everyone.”
Tension quickly builds as paparazzi hound them and Carolyn can be heard saying, “It’s not a question of if I want to spend the rest of my life with you, it’s a question of if I’m cut out to be Mrs. JFK. Jr.”
Sound enticing? This is how you can watch for yourself.
In Australia, you’ll be able to watch FX’s Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette when it premieres exclusively on Disney+ — the series launches internationally on the platform on Friday, February 13, 2026 with the first episodes available to stream there.
