The 29-year-old tennis pro didn’t just take out the number two spot at Wimbledon 2021, but also walked home with the third spot in the US Open of the same year. 2020 was an equally impressive year from the athlete, who came first during the Australian Open and the French Open.
It’s unsurprising then, that she was one to watch this year, with fans keeping an eagle-eye on her serves and strokes at the 2023 Australian Open.
While the world is fascinated by her performance on the court, it’s equally curious to learn about her life off the court, as well. In late 2021, Pegula married her long-time boyfriend, Taylor Gahagen. Below, everything we know about him and their fairytale wedding.
Who is Jessica Pegula’s husband?
Taylor Gahagen is an American senior investment analyst who spent seven years working at Pegula Sports and Entertainment (a company owned by Jessica’s parents). Following this, he went on to become a director of corporate development, director of brand strategy and eventually, worked on the marketing side for the Pegulas’ NHL professional hockey team, the Buffalo Sabres. Gahagen graduated with an MBA from Canisius College and studied at the State University of New York at Fredonia, where he received a BSc in business administration.
The 29-year-old is also known for his work with animals, having co-founded an animal welfare organisation called, A Lending Paw, which supports rescue dogs and rehabilitates them for new homes.
How did Jessica Pegula and Taylor Gahagen meet?
While the exact start date of their relationship is not officially know, the general consensus is that the pair began dating in 2015. Their first known photo together is from Jessica’s Instagram account on November 2015, where the pair were dressed up as Clark Kent and a vampire (presumably for a costume party).
Very little details about how the two met are known, but they have travelled around the world together and share a deep love of dogs.
In October 2021, Jessica and Taylor tied the knot in North Carolina at the breathtaking Biltmore Estate. The wedding was kept incredibly private, attended only by their closest friends and family. Several members of the Women’s Tennis Association were in attendance, including Taylor Townsend, Samantha Crawford, Jennifer Brady and Asia Muhammad. Of course, their three dogs were also brought along for the festivities, posing for their official wedding pictures.
The couple also planned a wedding photoshoot in Paris, with several photos of them seen in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower.
