Back to school means pick-ups, drop-offs, playdates and the rest of the joyous driving which comes with being a parent. I got around town for the week in a Kia Sorento. Itโs a 7 seater and fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), those extra seats means you can take the childrenโs friends to various after-school activities (the joy never stops, does it?). My two daughters were over-excited that our car would be the official transport for the week. And it was super useful, even when we werenโt ferrying other children around, just for the sheer space.
It handles really well, the steering is responsive, it took corners like a champ and as a result, I felt really confident while driving.
Itโs a big car and you do feel the size while driving and parking, but it has a 360 degree camera to help you squeeze into parks โ you can literally see behind, in front and a view from on top of the car which is super helpful. The only issue I found was that the airbags donโt cover the back row, so if you are driving other peopleโs children around, youโll have to drive carefully.
The Sorento comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, so you can just plug in your phone and be instantly connected to your phoneโs main apps like maps and Spotify. Itโs not the prettiest car, but itโs practical.
