Despite some rather nasty reports that are making the rounds lately insinuating Meghan Markle isn’t the lovely person she very much seems, tennis-pro Serena Williams has come out and said the Duchess of Sussex is indeed a sweetheart.
Last night the sports star spoke with People magazine at her clothing line launch in Miami and said that marrying into the royal family hasn’t changed Markle one bit.
“I’m like, ‘How are you?’ and she’s like, ‘No, how are you?’ and I’m like, ‘You’re so sweet, but I’m really asking – how are YOU?’ ” said Serena. “I’m like, ‘Meghan, stop being so nice…you’re the pregnant one, aren’t you supposed to have hormones, why are you so sweet?’ But that’s always been her.”
Serena and Meghan have been close friends since they met at the Super Bowl way back in 2010 and Williams, along with husband Alexis Ohanian, attended Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding in May.
The mum-of-one told People that while she is relaying to Markle plenty of parenting wisdom, Meghan “still gives me more advice.”
Meghan and Harry’s royal bundle of joy is due in Autumn next year.
