Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham have never done anything quietly – and their latest cryptic social media exchange is no exception. On July 17, Nicks posted a handwritten lyric from “Frozen Love,” a deep cut from Buckingham Nicks, the pre-Fleetwood Mac album the two released as a duo in 1973. “And if you go forward…” she wrote.
Hours later, Buckingham responded on his own page with the rest of the lyric: “I’ll meet you there.” Fans immediately lost it. Obviously.
Fleetwood Flashbacks & Insta Breadcrumbs
This wasn’t just a moment of poetic nostalgia. The pair also recently followed each other on Instagram – hardly earth-shattering in itself, unless you’re a Fleetwood Mac fan who’s tracked the icy fallout since Buckingham was fired from the band in 2018.
The posts quickly sparked speculation. “WHAT IS HAPPENING?” wrote one fan. “Are they reuniting? Is he joining her tour?” asked another. Cue a thousand tweets, a thousand theories, and a flood of TikToks set to Silver Springs.
Dreams, Go Your Own Way, & Going Their Own Way – Again
Nicks and Buckingham’s history is the stuff of rock ’n’ roll legend: high school bandmates, romantic partners, artistic collaborators, bitter exes.
They broke up while recording Rumours (1977) and turned their heartache into hits – she wrote Dreams, he penned Go Your Own Way (complete with that brutal “shacking up” line that Nicks never forgave).
They reunited. They fell out. Rinse. Repeat.
In 2022, Nicks told Rolling Stone the only time they’d spoken recently was for “about three minutes” at Christine McVie’s memorial. “You could not say I didn’t give him more than 300 million chances,” she said.
So… Is Something Actually Happening?
Good question. Neither Nicks nor Buckingham has confirmed anything, and their reps have stayed silent. Nicks is currently on tour and working on a solo album. A Fleetwood Mac reunion feels unlikely – especially after McVie’s death in 2022, which Nicks has said marked the “end” of the band.
Still, the timing feels deliberate. Mick Fleetwood even posted a video listening to Frozen Love the day before the lyric exchange, saying, “It’s in the music that played on for so many years. Magic then, magic now.”
Coincidence? Maybe. Carefully orchestrated tease? Probably.
Whether it’s a new duet, a stage cameo, or just one final musical olive branch, the possibility of a Nicks–Buckingham reunion is thrilling. These two built an empire on heartbreak, harmony, and high drama. And if there’s anything fans have learned over the last 50 years, it’s this: with Stevie and Lindsey, anything is possible.
Even magic. Again.
