Five Must-Do Activities At The Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth

Time to tick off that bucket list item

#1 Experience the competition that launched the careers of country music heavy weights Keith Urban and Lee Kernaghan. The free event sees ten finalists; chosen from all over the country, perform for a shot at the Toyota Star Maker Title. Tip: Bring your picnic rug and get in early for the best spot.

#2 While a food truck may seem more festival appropriate, Glasshouse Restaurant at Goonoo Goonoo Station is a must-do while in Tamworth. Only 20 minutes out of town and boasting a locally sourced menu, this feed will be well worth the trip. Tip: get there late afternoon to enjoy the sunset, while overlooking the rolling hills of the station.

#3 Test your 4WD skills on a custom designed track, complete with everything from near vertical ramps to rock tracks. Donโ€™t worry, if youโ€™re not up for the challenge of driving yourself, take it all in from the passenger seat, with a professional navigating the terrain. Plus, check out the real life Toyota HiLux Tonka Truck for itโ€™s last weekend on tour.

#4 Have half a day to spare? Take a trip out to Sheba Dam. The 50-kilometre drive from Tamworth includes winding country roads and gorgeous scenery, ending in a perfect picnic location and a swim (in case the Tamworth heat gets too much).

#5 Even though the Star Maker, Golden Guitar Awards and Stars Under The Stars concerts are the main events of the festival, it is definitely worth dropping into a local pub for the behind the scenes action and a chance to hit the dance floor.
