It is shaping up to be the year of book-to-screen adaptations, with the likes of Daisy Jones & The Six, The Last Thing He Told Me, and The Power – just to name a few – dusting off our favourite novels and turning them into binge-worthy hits.
The latest we’re adding to our watch list this year is Red, White & Royal Blue, based on Casey McQuiston’s critically acclaimed New York Times best-seller, which tells the tale of two young men from opposite sides of the ocean but similar political pedigree.
Featuring all the highs and lows of an enemies-to-lovers trope (the superior of them all we might add), along with a dash of politics, drama and well, romance of course, Red, White & Royal Blue is set to prove that true love isn’t always diplomatic.
If, like us, you can’t wait to cosy up and watch the film for your Friday night in, then read on for everything you need to know about it.

What is Red, White & Royal Blue about?
On the surface, Alex Claremont-Diaz, who is the son of the President of the United States, and Britain’s Prince Henry have a lot in common. Both share stunning good looks, undeniable charisma, international popularity … and a total disdain for each other.
Separated by an ocean, their long-running feud hasn’t really been an issue until a disastrous and very public altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in U.S./British relations at the worst possible time.
Going into damage-control mode, their families and handlers force the two rivals into a staged “truce.” But as Alex and Henry’s icy relationship unexpectedly begins to thaw into a tentative friendship, the friction that existed between them sparks something deeper than they ever expected.
