Liquid-Glitter iPhone Cases Are Giving People Chemical Burns

Hundreds of thousands are being recalled

It is a truth universally acknowledged that the best iPhone cases are filled with glitter – at least it was, until they started giving people swelling, burns and permanent scarring.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recalled hundreds of thousands of liquid-glitter iPhone cases made by MixBin Electronics after 24 people across the world (19 of whom live in America) reported chemical burns after their cases leaked.

The Cut reports that one person has developed permanent scarring, while another experienced burns and swelling on her leg, face and other parts of her body that came into contact with the leaked fluid.

The MixBin phone cases were sold via Amazon, Tory Burch, Victoria’s Secret, Henri Bendel and Nordstrom Rack, to name a few, between October 2015 and June 2017.

“If you do have these, we urge you to act quickly, get these out of your home, contact MixBin electronics,” CPSC spokesperson Patty Davis told ABC News. “They will give you a full refund.”

You can visit the CPSC website to see if your glitter case is affected.
