‘Gone Girl’ Actress Lisa Banes Has Sadly Passed Away From Her Hit-And-Run Injuries

Hollywood is mourning her loss.

Actress Lisa Banes, who appeared alongside Ben Affleck in the movie Gone Girl, has sadly passed away as a result of injuries sustained from a hit-and-run incident.

Banes was struck by a scooter driver on the Upper West Side in New York, as she was walking to meet her wife Kathryn Kranhold for a dinner party on June 4.

“He just wiped her out,” a witness told the Daily News.

The scooter driver ran a red light before the collision and fled the scene. According to the New York Daily News, they have still not been identified.  Banes sustained traumatic brain injuries as a result of the accident and was unable to recover.

A representative of the actress told ET: “We’re heartsick over Lisa’s tragic and senseless passing. She was a woman of great spirit, kindness, and generosity and dedicated to her work, whether on stage or in front of a camera and even more so to her wife, family and friends. We were blessed to have had her in our lives.”

Banes is known for a multitude of different roles, most notably as Rosamund Pike’s mother in Gone Girl. She has also appeared as Tom Cruise’s love interest in the 1988 movie, Cocktail. Her talents aren’t limited to the big screen, either. The actress has also appeared in a number of Broadway plays including Present Laughter and High Society.

She was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for best featured actor in a play in 1984 for Isn’t it Romantic and won a Theatre World Award in 1981 for the off-Broadway play Look Back in Anger, along with an Obie in 1982 for her role in My Sister in This House.

Her tragic passing is deeply saddening, with support and love pouring in from all around the world.
