Like Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow Also Doesn’t Remember Filming Friends

Some kind of Smelly Cat witchery is surely at play here.

For anyone with a television, the plot of Friends—yes, all 10 seasons—is familiar, if not ingrained in our permanent memory. The show has been on a loop on screens across the world for almost two decades since its finale in 2004, garnering more than a projected 100 billion views.

But out of all those people who can quote Ross’ Unagi speech word for word, or name every girlfriend Joey has ever had, or pin-point the amount of episodes Gunther appears in—there’s a couple of very important people integral to the show who know, well, nothing about it.

Yes, fans were shocked to learn back in March that Courtney Cox AKA Monica, remembered little to nothing about her time filming the series.

“I should’ve watched all 10 seasons,” she admitted on TODAY. “Because when I did the reunion and was asked questions, I was like, ‘I don’t remember being there.’ I don’t remember filming so many episodes.”

She added that whenever she does see clips from the series on TV, “I stop and go, ‘Oh, my God, I don’t remember this at all. But it’s so funny.'”

As if Cox’s confession wasn’t enough to have us scratching our heads, Lisa Kudrow, who plays the loveable Phoebe Buffay, has also now come forward with her own forgetful revelation.

Speaking on Andy Cohen Live in May, Kudrow admitted she was in “completely in the same boat” as Cox, adding that she has a “bad memory” when it comes to the show.

“We don’t even remember what the episodes were, I know I haven’t seen all the episodes,” she told the host.

It prompted Cohen to ask the obvious question: was the cast ever given episodes to watch prior to airing?

Kudrow confirmed that they weren’t, which makes the revelation a little more understandable as to why they haven’t watched every episode (unlike millions of fans across the globe).

But while Kudrow and Cox are light on the details, it appears Jennifer Aniston and Matt LeBlanc have crystal clear memories from those 10 years on-set.

“Jennifer [Aniston] remembers everything and [Matt] LeBlanc remembers everything. And I remember nothing,” Kudrow in a 2020 interview with Entertainment Weekly

“It’s really fun to talk about things… someone remembers it one way and someone remembers something else about it altogether, and I don’t know, it’s really fun. It’s great,” she added.
