From the moment we found out Hulu was creating a limited series of Celeste Ng’s 2017 novel Little Fires Everywhere, we knew we were in for a wild ride – especially with Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington at the helm. But after yesterday’s finale episode, we have to say, nothing could have prepared us for that.

Where do we even begin? For starters, the last few minutes of the final episode revealed the exact opposite of what the first few minutes of the pilot implied. Izzy (Megan Scott), was not the one who burned down the Richardson’s house; instead, it was actually her siblings Lexie (Jade Pettyjohn), Trip (Jordan Elsass), and Moody (Gavin Lewis) who committed arson. Mind blown.

While Mia (Kerry Washington) and her daughter Pearl (Lexi Underwood) finally resolve their differences, elsewhere, the tension between Izzy and her mother Elana (Reese Witherspoon) that has been brewing all season comes to a head. The Richardson family is ripped apart by Elana’s harsh confession, as she screams at Izzy “I never wanted you in the first place!” As Izzy packs her bags and runs away, the remaining Richardson siblings make a pact to burn each of their rooms – creating little fires everywhere.

Admittedly, we’re still recovering from yesterday’s episode, but it hasn’t stopped us from turning to the Twitter-verse to gauge their opinion and unsurprisingly, they had some serious thoughts. Below, we’ve rounded up the best Twitter reactions to the Little Fires Everywhere finale.
