Give the candy to the baby!

Congratulations are in order to Mandy Moore and her husband Taylor Goldsmith! The couple has just welcomed a sweet baby boy. The announcement came via social media, where Moore also shared the name the couple chose: August Harrison Goldsmith. Coincidentally, the British royal  Princess Eugenie also recently revealed that her newborn son was named August, something in the air perhaps?

“Gus is here 💙💙💙💙. Our sweet boy, August Harrison Goldsmith,” Moore captioned her Instagram post. “He was punctual and arrived right on his due date, much to the delight of his parents. We were prepared to fall in love in all sorts of brand new ways, but it goes beyond anything we could have ever imagined.”

The news comes off the back of a candid admission from Moore about some of her pregnancy complications. Fans of the This Is Us actress will remember that since first announcing she was expecting in September 2020, Moore has been open about her fertility struggles and the difficulties she faced in her first trimester. The actress also made a powerful statement recently about her perspective on the media demanding sexual assault survivors continually retell their story.

In a recent interview before the birth of August, Moore revealed that despite the difficult journey she would be open to having another child.

“I have such a deeper appreciation for my body and the fact that us pregnant folks have the capability to do this. It’s the coolest thing,” she told the hosts of the Informed Pregnancy Podcast. “I mean, I know that I joke with my husband already. We’re not at the end of the rollercoaster ride yet, and like, I’ll do this again. I’m so ready to do this again. Even if I was as sick as I was during the first trimester, there is something I think in the third trimester that is so profoundly magical and beautiful.”
