Warning: This article contains major spoilers for season 3 of Manifest.

Impatient would be an understatement when it comes to how fans of the Netflix-revived series, Manifest, are currently feeling.

First, the show was almost cancelled at season three when NBC decided to drop it. Thankfully, Netflix gave it a breath of life by securing the rights for the show and announcing that it would produce a fourth and final season. OG fans rejoiced–as did a bunch of new fans who were lulled in by the show’s very sudden rise to number one on the streaming giant.

But now, after binging through season one, two and three many, many times over, impatience for the fourth season is growing by the day. When will it drop, you ask? There are only so many times you can rewatch that death at the end of season three, after all.

What is the release date for Manifest season 4?

At the moment, there is no specific date set for season four’s release. We know, it’s simply not fair when the cast and crew alluded to filming months ago. Surely filming has wrapped by now, and surely post production is reaching its end?

Well, perhaps not. Per Fansided, filming for the show was split into two parts, and while the first episodes have now wrapped, a second batch of filming began midway through 2022.

If we’re not mistaken, season four will drop in one go, which means we’ll likely have to wait until the second part of season four has finished filming.

The show’s creator Jeff Rake appears to have confirmed this. In early 2022, he took to Twitter to speculate on release dates, telling his followers at the time that a November 2022 release was on the cards.

That said, fans have still had keen hope for an earlier release—there was a theory going around claiming that the show would drop on Netflix on August 28, 2022 in honour of the show’s famous fallen flight, ‘Flight 828’.

That theory was quickly debunked when the streaming platform revealed its August releases and Manifest was firmly not on the list.

In addition, Deadline claimed that the release date would be “this fall”, which could mean a September or October release date given the US fall is springtime Down Under. Fingers crossed.

What will happen in season 4?

Rake has confirmed that season four will include 20 episodes split into two parts. He also assured fans that the story would be wrapped up completely by the season’s end.

“The endgame won’t change at all… I am absolutely confident that 20 episodes gives me enough time to tell the entirety of the story as I always intended to,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

As for the actual plot, the end of season three saw Angelina, a passenger from Flight 828, be rescued from the home she’d been locked in by her religious parents. But that experience, combined with falling in with a cult of doomsday preppers meant she had become brainwashed. She stabbed Grace, leaving her for dead and kidnapped her child. But did Grace actually die? While all signs point to yes, stranger things have happened on this show, so we’re expected season four to unseal her ultimate fate.

Another twist at the end of season three came when Ben’s son Cal reappeared, only he’s not the same as he was. In fact, he’s completely grown up. We can only guess what will become of him in season four.
