Dannii Minogue’s Top Career Advice From the marie claire x Bumble Glass Ceiling Series

Wisdom, wit and winning advice were the order of the day.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help,” “Be willing to say yes,” and “Sometimes you have to fluff up a pillow, hold it to your face and scream into it.” These were just some of the pieces of advice on how to survive and thrive in a post-COVID world, shared at the inaugural marie claire x Bumble Glass Ceiling Series virtual event called The Pivot. The Purpose. The Powerhouse.

The multi-platform event, held in December at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art, brought together a trio of trailblazers – entertainment legend Dannii Minogue, Today show co-host Brooke Boney and Bumble associate director APAC PR and Communications Lucille McCart – who, along with host Jan Fran,  shared their inspiring tips on risk-taking and facing adversity to a Zoom-weary virtual audience.

With research from the Are Media HerPulse 5.0 survey revealing that almost 50 per cent of women are rethinking their lives and looking for new careers post-pandemic, the event was a timely opportunity to hear some words of wisdom from a stellar A–lister lineup.

Rule number one for making change? Take small steps. “Just start making stuff and don’t worry if it’s wrong or right, but simply make a start,” Boney advised. McCart agreed: “Always be ready to say yes. You don’t have to wait until you’re unhappy in a job to leave – sometimes it’s best to leave when you still love it.’’ Minogue, however, perhaps best summed up the mood: “Don’t lets others define you,’’ she said. “Do what brings you joy.’’ Amen to that.
