The Best Twitter Reactions To The ‘Married At First Sight’ Finale

As we farewell the series for another year

It’s here, it’s finally the day. We officially farewell Married At First Sight for another year – but, not without some drama.

Heidi & Mike

“What happened?” asks John about their relationship. We quickly learn that Heidi moved to the Gold Coast to be with Mike, but things took a turn quickly.

“We were great for a little bit and then we went a little bit rocky and then we just went bad,” says Heidi. “We thought when we got out of the experiment we would just thrive and get better and better, but without our training wheels we fell off. I kind of lost myself in the experiment. I came in as one person and I left as another person and I guess I didn’t like the person I was at the end. I felt like I lost a part of myself.

“As much as I loved this man, we were not bringing out the best in each other. We were not making ourselves better people by being together.”

“Did he break your heart?” asks John. “Yeah,” Heidi admits.

Heidi tells Mike she doesn’t regret a second and that she’s grateful for him.

Cyrell (and Nic)

Cyrell and Nic are on good terms since their breakup. “Do you keep in contact?” asks John.

She’s asked if she has any regrets about the fight with Martha the night before, and Martha is alarmed to hear that she has none.

We’re then shown a video of Cyrell…not Nic.

Elizabeth

Lizzie is on her own for the couch session (which really isn’t that unusual given her history with Sam). She’s not surprised that Sam didn’t turn up today and says it’s because he doesn’t want to take responsibility for his actions. We’re then forced to watch all the horrible things Sam has said about Elizabeth over the past few weeks.

“What the hell is that?” she asks. “I am just appalled that he would make it so free to comment on a woman’s weight. That to me is absolutely despicable and disgusting.”

Mike intervenes *SIGH*.

“Hang on a second, he shouldn’t have said those things about you, your body,” he says. “That’s unfair, but put it this way, I’ve seen the way you treat me so I’ve seen how you behave. I can only imagine that you drove him away with that behaviour. That’s the truth of it.”

Ines

Ines begins to explain herself.

“Obviously we were offered opportunities to be able to tell people what was actually happening,” she says. “But obviously the dinner parties are the worst place that you want to raise this topic. I sort of actually just gave Sam full control in when to raise the issue, which I probably shouldn’t have done.”

The experts invite Ines onto the couch alongside Lizzie.

“That’s OK,” Ines replies to Elizabeth thanking her for her support. “I appreciate your strength because I don’t think I have it in me.”

“I never realised how affected Elizabeth was by my actions,” continues Ines. “Which is really sad to see…oh, this is so hard for me to do. Sam told me he wanted to make it work on our terms outside of the experiment, but it just didn’t happen.

“I chose to see the best in him, but like Elizabeth did say he says one thing and does another. It’s sad because you know some of the things he promised me were huge and it just sucks because if you tell a girl that you want to be with her, ‘let’s live together’ and then you just ghost her, there’s going to be a lot of repressed emotions there.”

“I don’t want to be nasty to you,” Lizzie says. “I don’t want to do that anymore. I don’t want to do that anymore.”

Jess and Dan

Dan is shown footage of Jess hitting on Nic, just minutes before hitting on him. The whole of Australia cowers at the awkwardness.

“I feel bad, up here in front of Mick and Tam,” he says. “I don’t want to grab her and kiss her because I feel like I’m rubbing it in their faces. I feel horrible about it. Honestly, that’s exactly how I feel and that’s probably why you can see I look uncomfortable because I am.”

Cam, Cyrell and Mick bring up the fact that “Dan was third rung on the ladder” after Nic and Mick.

“Jess, I’m just gonna say it: Your legs are like a 7-Eleven, they’re open for business 24-7,” says Cyrell after watching the vision.

“Cyrell, if I wanted your opinion, I’d kick your kennel,” responds Jess.

Jess says she wasn’t hitting on Nic and that they were just being friends.

Dan is hurt, and asks Jess to be honest, but she says she’s telling the truth. He asks Nic to tell him man-to-man, and while Nic denies Jess was flirting at first, he eventually admits it.

“OK, yeah I felt like she was hitting on me,” he says. “Yeah 100 per cent.”

The experts ask Jess if she can understand why everyone is so upset.

“Because it looks like I’ve gone from Nic to Dan, which I haven’t,” says Jess.

“I feel like I’ve just been played,” says Dan. “I’m hurt right now, looking at that… Looking at that now, I feel like I’m a piece of s—. Honestly. I’ve got a lot to think about, I really do.”
