Sunday's commitment ceremony was definitely an emotional rollercoaster!

A Married At First Sight commitment ceremony is always the most dramatic part of the Australian television week, but Sunday’s episode was particularly poignant.

Between Tash, Amanda, Mishel and Mikey all voting to leave, and Cathy and Josh (who had been assumed to be the experiment’s strongest couple) falling out over Hayley touching his arm (Hayley, keep your paws to yourself) it was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish.

Tash and Amanda’s predicted departure was confirmed when they grew tired of three weeks of bickering and bowed out of the show.

Of course, it didn’t come without a showdown.

Tash told Amanda that she thought they were “wiping the slate clean” after a sit-down session with “expert” John Aiken, but Amanda’s decision to walk into the dinner party solo on Thursday night meant game over for Tash.

Never one to bite her tongue, Amanda yelled at her: “Everyone here has issues and you don’t see them running for the hills.”

Hayley tried to butt in to defend her pal Tash, but Amanda was having none of it.

“Hayley, this is our f**king fight now and with all due respect pipe it … Shut the f**k up,” Amanda told her.

Amanda, whose parents refused to attend her wedding, continued: “I didn’t get what I came here for and I left a lot behind for that.”

“You deserve love, you deserve warmth, and I am sorry I can’t give you that,” Tash said.

Tash also wrote her ex-“wife” a sentimental letter to thank her, which didn’t leave a dry eye in the house.

“It’s nice to hear but unfortunately, it didn’t have to be this hard,” Amanda said. “I will not walk away hating you, I am eternally grateful for being part of the experiment.”

Before their departure, Amanda had one last message for viewers.

“Unfortunately, this relationship has not been a good representative of what gay relationships are really like,” she said. “There are a lot of good functioning gay couples and I’m sorry this didn’t do the gay community justice.”

Meanwhile, Steve and Mishel’s relationship is going from bad to worse. After their major fall-out at the dinner party where Steve pretty much told her to shut up in front of Michael and Stacey, Mishel voted to “leave” the experiment, but Steve wanted to “stay” for another week.

John Aiken asked the English barber if he had aplogised to his wife for how he spoke to her.

“I didn’t apologise to Mishel because I didn’t think there was anything to apologise for,” he said.

Famed for his shi*t-stirring ways, Michael butted in: “I remember holding Mishel while she was shaking and you were losing your temper.”

Mishel added: “When he started to raise his voice, that was out of line. He tells me to be quiet all of the time. I am not dumb even though he thinks I am.

“I am very aware of the way he tries to control me.”

Mishel took out a list (an actual list) of complaints that she wrote about Steve.

“I am not allowed to swear,” she said. “I am not allowed to say I am going for a wee or a poo. I like Steve to sit at my eye level but Steve likes to stand.”

“I am not perfect, Steve said. “I’ve been on my own for such a long time.”

They decide to stay on for another week where a preview of Monday night’s episode shows Mishel’s daughter at loggerheads with him about his “controlling” ways.

Like mother like daughter, hey?
