There’s never a dull moment during a Married At First Sight commitment ceremony, but Sunday night went above and beyond the drama stakes when Hayley Vernon and David Cannon took to the couch.

The pair fell out on their honeymoon when Hayley said that David’s $25 per hour truck driving job “wouldn’t cut it”.
It went from bad to worse at the most dramatic first dinner party in the show’s history when David accused Hayley of “scraping” his face as she tried to kiss him.
While Hayley’s behaviour isn’t exactly kosher, he went for the jugular.
Lashing out at his “wife”, David spat: “Hayley can’t change her past with drugs … Here I am with a recovering drug addict who is a smoker.”
(A bit rich coming from a man who filmed himself scrubbing a stained toilet with Hayley’s toothbrush and allowing her to continue using it for days afterwards.)
The comment floored Hayley, a Melbourne finance broker, and she started to sob.
“It’s not recovering, it’s recovered,” she cried. “I’m not my past. You are saying it like it’s a bad thing that you are matched with me because of my past.
“I am not that person any more … I’ve done so much f***ing work on myself to get to where I am today.”
“What a mess,” she added, as the other couples watched on looking upset and shocked.

Relationship “expert” John Aitken intervened to try and restore some calm to the situation.
“You take a moment Hayley. David, this is for you,” John said. “Hayley has, in the past, had issues with substances, but not now … David, you can’t judge her on her past, she’s not chained by it.”
Hayley added: “I am the biggest f***ing bogan, money does not mean a thing to me.”
David looks as if this is the first dose of self-awareness he has ever received.
Dusting herself off, Hayley apologised for commenting on David’s wages.
“I feel terrible, Dave, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” she said.
“For her to say that to me in front of everyone, that means a lot to me,” David said.
Hayley added that she hopes her appearance on MAFS can give other drug addicts hope that they can “get their shit together too”.
But the most shocking part of this whole to and fro is that both voted to “stay” together in the experiment. What the actual?
These people are a sucker for punishment, but we suppose they have their eyes on the teeth whitening endorsement prizes.
