Married At First Sight’s Dean Wells, 39, has easily taken the crown for the most controversial groom this season, but if you ask him, the public’s judgement “does not bother” him.
On Wednesday night’s episode of the hit Channel 9 show, Dean and Davina were shown pursuing a relationship – despite being paired with their respective partners, single mum Tracey Jewel, 34 and tradie, Ryan Gallagher.
And now, the reality TV star has opened up to The Herald Sun about the huge ordeal. “I wasn’t thinking about how I would be perceived by others — that doesn’t bother me. I was just being real and honest with myself,” he says.
“If people don’t like me for that, I can’t control that, so it doesn’t bother me.”
Dean admitted to the publication that he did not have any bad intentions when he agreed to meet up with Rankin, 26 – but regardless this move has encouraged both Dean and Davina to rethink their options and consider leaving their partners at this Sunday’s ‘Commitment Ceremony.’
“Davina and I met up to discuss the fact that neither of us were really happy with our matches,” he stated.
“I did feel a bit of a flirty vibe from Davina at the dinner party, but I didn’t think anything more of it after that.”
And even though he claims there were no ulterior motives about his meet-up with Davina – despite getting a little too close for comfort – Dean confirms he did have a bit of remorse for faithful TV wife, Tracey.
“Yes, I felt quite a lot of guilt for being deceitful with Tracey,” he says.
And Dean isn’t the only star speaking out after this ordeal, with Davina’s official groom, Ryan admitting the cheating scandal made him “feel like an idiot.”
Speaking to TODAY, the star revealed he feels like a ‘dipstick’ after his bride’s secret romance unfolded on Tuesday night’s episode.
Ryan spoke openly to hosts Karl Stefanovic and Georgie Gardner, telling them that he found it ”hard to watch” his bride get close with another contestant.
“I feel like an idiot because I didn’t know what was going on,” he said before confirming he won’t be settling down with the brunette. ‘Sort of not going to end up doing that… It’s not the best outcome.”
