Last night’s episode of Married At First Sight saw Tracey Jewel finally end things with her on-screen husband Dean Wells.
Though we’d all been hoping and praying for the moment for weeks, it was pretty unexpected, given how forgiving the Perth mother-of-one had been throughout the show.
Now Dean has opened up about the break up, saying he had no idea it was coming.
“I was really confident until she turned around and said, ‘You don’t deserve me’,” he told The Fix.
“As soon as those words came out of her mouth, I was like, ‘What’s going on here?’ I wasn’t expecting that at all.”
He went on to say that as soon as the cameras stopped rolling, producers put Tracey in a car without giving the two any time to speak.
“Then Tracey kind of got ushered off into her car and driven off,” Dean said.
“Not long after that [the crew] were just kinda like, ‘Oh well, that’s it, Dean. See ya later,’ and I got put into a car and was driven off to my hotel.”
Dean revealed that Tracey tried to call him while in the car but that he “didn’t really feel like talking”.
However, later that evening the pair spoke on the phone, saying they wanted to remain in each other’s lives.
“We did talk about the fact that things might not have worked out for whatever reason but that we definitely wanted to remain friends and want to remain in each other’s lives somehow,” he said.
“We left it pretty open-ended I felt that night.”
Following the show, Dean posted an Instagram saying it was “one of the hardest days of my life.”
“@traceyjewel_ifyI have nothing but love and respect for you,” he finished.
