It’s officially the first week of homestays on Married At First Sight and while some couples are making major progress forward (Jules and Cam), many are struggling to keep it together.
The couple that sparked the most outrage on Monday night’s episode was Susie and Billy. The couple has cleared the air after a tough commitment ceremony, and Susie apologises for the things she’s said to Billy over the last week. While things finally started to look up for the couple, Susie and Billy go surfing. Susie asks Billy how long ago he went surfing – and who knew, it’d create the biggest fight we’ve seen so far.
He says it was a few months ago, and Susie says, “I thought you said the other day it was two years ago. When we went surfing on the honeymoon you said it was two years ago.” Billy says he told the white lie because his surfing on the honeymoon wasn’t great. Susie is furious that Billy lied to her. They fight for ages, and eventually, Billy just collapses on the sand in disbelief.
“You lied. I’m never going to be able to trust you if you keep doing this,” she says. “Like the Splenda this morning in the kitchen. If there’s no sweetener just say there’s no sweetener!”
Poor Billy, in tears, says: “I’m not cheating on her, I’m not lying about my feelings for her. You know what is the problem? I’m trying to do everything that I can for her and it’s not good enough.”
Viewers were left outraged by Susie’s actions.
