MAFS: Troy And Ashley’s Final Date Was In The Same Seaplane That Crashed On NYE

Leaving six people dead

Married At First Sight’s Troy and Ashley took flight on a romantic final date on the same Sydney seaplane that plunged into the Hawkesbury River, killing six people.

As the Daily Mail reports, the seaplane used by the pair crashed just over a month after filming, on New Year’s Eve.

The plane’s registration ‘VH-N00’—which could be seen on Tuesday’s MAFS episode—matches the registration listed on the accident report on the Aviation Safety Network website. The plane was owned by Sydney Seaplanes.

A Channel Nine spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Mail that Troy and Ashley’s plane ride was not captained by Gareth Morgan, the pilot killed in the Hawkesbury River crash.

According to SBS News, a preliminary report found the seaplane had no evidence of damage before it hit the water on December 31.

The 44-year-old pilot, plus British family members Emma Bowden, 48, her daughter Heather, 11, her fiancé Richard Cousins, 58, and his sons William, 25, and Edward, 23, all died in the tragic crash.
