As far as intriguing couples go, Mary-Kate Olsen, 30, and Olivier Sarkozy, 47 are up there. She catapulted to fame as a six-month-old with twin Ashley Olsen on Full House; he’s the brother of former French president Nicholas Sarkozy. She’s now a fashion designer, with two labels, The Row and Elizabeth and James, under her belt; he’s a banker with two teenage children.
The pair are notoriously private, which has only served to fuel public intrigue. But now, Mary-Kate has revealed a glimpse of what life is like for the unlikely couple. In a combined interview with her sister for Net-A-Porter’s The Edit, Mary-Kate talks balancing work life and home.
“I think we’re lucky [working hard] comes quite naturally for us. We don’t need so much time to sit and think and ponder. But then, I have a husband, two step-kids and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner. I ride horses on the weekends. You find the thing that helps you relax and if you don’t have it, you have to look for it. Or you get burned out and then you’re not productive.”
The couple married in 2015 after three years together; they now live in an $US13.5 million New York townhouse with rooftop pool and ballroom.
The Olsen twins. Just like us.
