When Matty J was left heartbroken by Georgia Love on last season of The Bachelorette, the whole country felt his pain – and also wondered how on earth Georgia could turn down such a charming hunk of a man?!
But rather quickly we realised that Matty’s heartbreak meant that we would potentially get to have him on our screens again as The Bachelor, and suddenly things didn’t seem quite so bad.
In March, our dreams turned to reality when the 29-year-old announced the news, writing: “I can finally announce that yes, I will be the next Bachelor. I never could have imagined I’d be given this opportunity. I’m beyond excited to start this incredible adventure and to find the special girl I’ve been waiting for.”

“I think it’s hard to meet an amazing person. And last year I was able to meet someone who was pretty special,” he says in the trailer.
“I really did love Georgia.”
But “over time wounds do heal,” he continues. “And the prospect of falling in love again is more exciting than anything else.”
