While there, she met with a local hair artist and founder of Own Ur Crown, Nikiwe Dlova, who has created a number of headpiece Instagram filters in collaboration with Southern Africa Arts.
Dlova showed Meghan her Instagram filters, and Meghan even tried on some of the virtual flower crowns.
After the initial shock of what was happening, Meghan seemed delighted and impressed by the app.
“She loved It!!” Dlova captioned her Instagram post. “When she looked away she realised it was the same headpiece I was holding! This is an experience I will never forget!!!”
Dlova also shared a video of Meghan giving a farewell speech to conclude their royal tour, where she spoke of her fond memories from their time in Africa.
"Over the past 10 days our family has had emotional moments, we’ve had poignant moments, we’ve had spiritual moments; we’ve met inspirational leaders in every walk of life, and we’ve been treated to incredible food, music, and dancing. But above all, we have been able to meet the people that are the rocks behind the sort of work that really means so much to us. It has been affirming to learn that we’re not alone in the things that we believe in, and the principles we hold so dear. No matter how different our lives may seem, Africa, you have made us feel part of your community, of our shared community."
