A Never-Before-Seen Photo Of Meghan Markle Doing Charity Work Has Surfaced

The photo is from her pre-royal days

Working with charities is literally Meghan Markle’s job now that she’s a member of the royal family, but before she married her Prince, Meghan spent her spare time doing much of the same.

In August, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to unfollow everyone on their Instagram account and started an initiative where every month they follow just a handful of accounts to highlight the good work they are doing around the world.

“With the festive holiday season upon us, it’s also a reminder to reflect on those in need – those who may feel lonely, hungry, homeless, or may be experiencing the holidays for the first time without loved ones,” the royal couple wrote on their Instagram.

“It’s an important time of year to help those around you who may be less fortunate, or who would appreciate even the smallest act of kindness. Continuing our monthly tradition of highlighting accounts that do good, and inspired by the “Twelve Days of Christmas” – we have selected twelve organisations caring for those in need – especially at this time of year.”

One of the accounts they have opted to follow is Toronto-based charity St. Felix Centre, which holds special meaning to Meghan.

The centre provides services for some of the most marginalised and vulnerable members of Toronto’s community, including those who are homeless or suffering from mental health.

While Meghan was living in Toronto – back when she was filming Suits – she made regular visits to the charity.

In a post that thanked “the lovely Meghan” for featuring them, St. Felix Centre shared a photo of the Duchess taken during one of her previous visits. Looking incognito, Meghan wore a baseball cap and casual clothes.

We feel very grateful and honoured to have been highlighted by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan Markle, as one of 12 charities doing important work worldwide,” the charity said on Instagram.

“This photo has Meghan volunteering in our kitchen! ❤”

“Meghan Markle was an active supporter and volunteer of St. Felix Centre during her time living in the city while working on Suits,” St. Felix continued. “She volunteered on a regular basis in our kitchen as part of our Community Meals Program. The Duchess also donated food from the set of Suits, and on one Thanksgiving she brought in all the food, turkeys and the fixings for over 100 people.”
