Meghan Markle has been married for less than a month, but already she’s stuck in to her role as the Duchess of Sussex. Over the weekend, the duchess appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with the rest of the royal family for Trooping the Colour, marking the Queen’s official 92nd birthday. However, it’s just been announced that Meghan officially has a new job following the royal wedding.
She is now officially patron of the Royal Foundation, along with Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The foundation is in the process of changing its full name to ‘The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ to reflect the change.
A request was put in to Companies House on Monday, HELLO! reports.
The foundation has also changed its ‘About’ page to include the Duchess of Sussex.
It’s a pretty quick change for the foundation: when the Duchess of Cambridge married Prince William in 2011, there was a much bigger gap between her wedding and joining the foundation, which changed its name to include her in July 2012.
We’re looking forward to hearing all about Meghan’s work with the rest of the young royals in future.
