Markle, 36, is said to have been prompted to make this career move following reports that she and Prince Harry are set to get engaged before Christmas this year.
"Meghan knows she can’t really act at the same time as being a princess and is happy to make this career sacrifice," a source told The Daily Star.
“She really enjoys her charity work with Unicef and will broaden out her charity commitments when she becomes a full-time royal.”
The insider added that the couple plan to announce their engagement by the end of this year.
This comes after reports that Markle had decided not to sign up for another series, with another source telling The Sun: “Meghan loved playing Rachel and feels she owes so much to Suits."
