The Clever Reason Behind Meghan Markle’s Neutral Palette For Official Royal Engagements

This makes so much sense

While Meghan Markle has always preferred a predominantly neutral palette, for the most part she tends to shun bright colours in favour of black, white, soft pinks and nudes (well despite just stepping out in blue over the weekend but this wasn’t an official royal engagement) and seems there is a very obvious reason behind her choice.

Stepping out last week in a cream Givenchy gown, the Duchess of Sussex nailed her first official royal engagement with Queen Elizabeth herself and her choice of outfit has been praised.

The Queen is known for her signature pop of colour which ensures fans can spot her in a crowd, Meghan’s choice of nude perfectly complements the Queen’s look, without competing in any way and is a sign of respect to Her Majesty (and other more senior royals).

The soft pink Caroline Herrera dress she wore for the Trooping the COlout and the Goat dress she chose for Prince Charles’ 70th birthday also perfectly complemented the outfits of those around her without being over the top or vying for attention.

“This is a clever styling tactic as it will always work with the Queen’s look… she is known and applauded for her use of bright fun colours,” fashion consultant Lucas Armitage explained to the Daily Mail.

“The use of neutral colour on Meghan’s part is also a show of respect to the Queen so she never looks like she is trying to outshine her.

“I would be shocked if Meghan ever opted for a bold colour, although it’s interesting to note in her previous life she was a fan of bright hues.”
