Meghan Markle may be one of the most talked-about women in the world but has currently taken a step back from the spotlight to live a more simple life with husband Prince Harry and baby Archie in Canada. But, a former co-star has come out of the woodwork to claim he was offered a bribe to lie about the royal.

Actor Simon Rex, who co-starred with Meghan in TV show Cuts in 2005, just gave a revealing interview on the Hollywood Raw podcast. While tabloids have painted a picture of Rex as being one of Meghan’s exes, the actor says there’s zero truth to the claims. He explained, “Nothing happened. We never even kissed. We hung out once in a very non-datey way.” He continued, “She was just someone I had met on a TV show and we got lunch. That was the extent of it.”
And that’s not all. As well as mischaracterising the interactions that took place between the two actors, several tabloids reportedly tried to coerce Rex into lying about the Duchess of Sussex. He revealed, “When that story broke, a couple British tabloids offered to pay me a lot of money to say a lie that we actually hooked up.” However, Rex wasn’t interested in the bribe and explained, “I said no to a lot of money because I didn’t feel right lying and fucking up the royal fucking family.”

As for how much he was offered, Rex said, “It was a lot of money, man. I think they offered me like $70,000.”
Rex isn’t the only person British tabloids have offered to pay for lies about Markle. Most famously, Markle’s father Thomas Markle took the opportunity and staged several fake setups (namely, one of him trying on suits for the Royal Wedding) before it was all revealed. It’s easy to see why the couple are attempting to distance themselves.
