The Cost Of Meghan Markle’s Australian Tour Wardrobe Will Shock You

Take a seat

After a whirlwind 16-day trip, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal tour of Australia and New Zealand is coming to an end. With a total of 72 engagements and four countries, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are no doubt looking forward to heading home to Kensington Palace and taking a well-deserved break from the spotlight.

But with the end of the royal tour comes the end of multiple daily outfit changes for Meghan, who has flawlessly navigated her first royal tour wardrobe – pregnancy and all – and provided us with endless inspo, highlighting both local and sustainable brands.

To date, Meghan has worn over 30 different looks, including Australian designers Dion Lee and Martin Grant and New Zealand labels Karen Walker and Maggie Marilyn. But how much has it all cost?

Prior to the royals taking off, The Daily Mail estimated Meghan’s tour wardrobe alone would cost around $180,740 AUD – and given that in just two days and four stunning looks, her tour of Ireland wardrobe was calculated at a whopping $54,442 AUD, it seemed a likely estimation.

With one day left on the tour, marie claire US decided to do the maths, working out that Meghan’s outfits have well surpassed $70,000 AUD – not including custom outfit designs and all the jewellery and accessories she has worn on the trip.

Of course, Meghan and Harry aren’t footing the bill: Prince Charles pays for all clothing out of his $28 million Duchy of Cornwall income.

Now that’s a great father-in-law perk if ever we heard one.
