Meghan Markle's Latest Outfit Supports Black Designers And Sustainable Fashion

Meghan Markle has always garnered attention for her wardrobe choices, but this time it's about more than looking good.

Joining Fortune's Most Powerful Women Next Gen Virtual Summit from her home in Santa Barbara, the 39-year-old made a powerful (and very chic) appearance.

And, as it turns out, her outfit actually has a little more to it than meets the eye.

The graphic maxi dress she was seen wearing is designed by African-American designer Tracy Reese—a talent who is a favourite of Oprah and Michelle Obama—as part of her 'Hope For Flowers' collection.

The range aims to create stylish pieces that are sustainably produced and give back to the world, with 10% of sales going to Detroit Dirt to offset environmental impact.

Meghan also appropriately paired the stunning dress with a pair of statement earrings made from recycled brass by Cuyana.

We are extremely honored to have Meghan Markle wearing the Pointlist Swirl Slip Dress from the Hope For Flowers Summer 2020 Collection! Meghan was speaking with Fortune's associate editor, Emma Hinchliffe, as part of the magazine's "Most Powerful Next Gen Summit". Although this style is sold out, many more beautiful styles from our Into Fall 2020 Collection have been added to the Hope For Flowers website at www.hopeforflowers.com for you to shop!

Speaking on the topic of social media, it was clear the Duchess had tuned in to Netflix's The Social Dilemma, as she seemingly borrowed some lines about the toxic effect that it can have.

"There are few things in this world where you call the person who's engaging with it a 'user'," she began. "People who are addicted to drugs are called users and people who are on social media are called users." she said.

Meghan, who ditched her and husband Prince Harry's social media account when they stepped down from royal life, then went on to discuss how social media sites go about encouraging an unhealthy level of engagement.

"There is something algorithmically that is in there that is creating this obsession that I think is very unhealthy for a lot of people," she continued.

"I have a lot of concerns for people that have become obsessed with it and it is so much a part of our daily culture for so many people that it is an addiction."

Below, the Sussexes' final Instagram post in March of 2020.

As we can all feel, the world at this moment seems extraordinarily fragile. Yet we are confident that every human being has the potential and opportunity to make a difference-as seen now across the globe, in our families, our communities and those on the front line-together we can lift each other up to realise the fullness of that promise. What's most important right now is the health and wellbeing of everyone across the globe and finding solutions for the many issues that have presented themselves as a result of this pandemic. As we all find the part we are to play in this global shift and changing of habits, we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute. While you may not see us here, the work continues. Thank you to this community - for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You've been great! Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another. Harry and Meghan
