Meghan Markle may have had previous experience with being in the public eye before she met Harry, but even she admits nothing could prepare her for the British tabloids.

During the couple’s documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, which follows them during their recent Africa tour and includes candid interviews between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and ITV News at Ten anchor Tom Bradby, Meghan revealed that her British friends warned her against marrying Harry because they knew how vicious they could be.
“In all fairness I had no idea, which probably sounds difficult to understand and hear. But when I first met my now-husband, my friends were really happy because I was so happy but my British friends said to me, ‘I’m sure he’s great but you shouldn’t do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life.’” Meghan said.
“And I very naively—I’m American. We don’t have that there—[I said], ‘What are you talking about? That doesn’t make any sense. I’m not in any tabloids.’ I didn’t get it. So it’s been, yeah, it’s been complicated.”
She admitted that “It’s hard,” dealing with the constant scrutiny of the British press. “I don’t think anybody could understand that.”
But it doesn’t sound like she’d change any of it.
“The good thing is I’ve got my baby and I’ve got my husband, and they’re the best,” she said.
Harry & Meghan: An African Journey airs in Australia on Monday, 21 October at 11am on 10 play, and on Channel 10 on Tuesday, 22nd October at 7.30pm.
