Now that 2016 is wrapping up, every tech platform seems to be giving their take on the trends. Pinterest released their top 10 style trend predictions of 2017, Twitter revealed the top Australian tweet of 2016, and now Google has revealed the actress that was most Googled in 2016.

In the wake of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s split, it makes sense that Marion Cotillard came in second place after cheating rumours arose (and were dismissed). The release of Star Wars last year was a ground-breaking event for newcomer Daisy Ridley, so it’s great that she made the list. Same goes for little Millie Bobby Brown, who played Eleven in a breakout role in Netflix’s critically acclaimed series Stranger Things.
It’s also been an enormous year of movies for Alicia Vikander, and who could forget Kate McKinnon‘s excellent portrayal of Hillary Clinton alongside Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump?
Interestingly, this list does not overlap much with the list of highest paid actresses. So it’s been a great year for newcomers!
