On May 19th, Meghan Markle stepped onto the steps of Windsor Castle in a gown fit for a princess.
The stunning silk dress, created by British designer Clare Waight Keller for French house Givenchy, was completed with a five-metre-long veil.
“The dress epitomises a timeless minimal elegance referencing the codes of the iconic House of Givenchy and showcasing the expert craftsmanship of its world-renowned Parisian couture atelier founded in 1952,” Kensington Palace said.
“The focus of the dress is the graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasises the slender sculpted waist.”
“The lines of the dress extend towards the back where the train flows in soft round folds cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza. The slim three-quarter sleeves add a note of refined modernity.”
Meghan finished off the day by changing into a halter neck Stella McCartney gown for the reception.
But of course, the above gowns aren’t the only wedding dresses the Duchess of Sussex has worn. She was previously married in 2011 to producer Trevor Engelson.
For the wedding in Jamaica, Meghan wore a strapless bohemian-looking gown with a slight V-neckline and a bejeweled belt. The bride wore her hair down in loose waves and kept her makeup minimal.
On both occasions, Meghan looked beautiful, but her first dress can’t compare to a one-of-a-kind Givenchy gown made especially for a royal bride.
