This Strange New Period Product Is Causing Major Controversy

This Strange New Period Product Is Causing Major Controversy

A male chiropractor in the US has come up with an... 'innovative' new period product that he plans on bringing to market as soon as he can. The main problem? It doesn't seem like he knows how a woman's body actually works.

The product, called Mensez, is an adhesive 'lipstick' designed to block menstrual flow. It apparently dissolves when a woman urinates, and it's raising a whole bunch of questions, like does he actually know what the difference is between the urethra and the vagina?.

For the record, here's how creator Daniel Dopps described the product on his LinkedIn:

“Mensez feminine lipstick is a natural patented compound of amino acids and oil in a lipstick applicator that is applied to the labia minora and causes them to cling together in a manner strong enough to retain menstrual fluid in the vestibule above the labia minora where the vaginal opening and urethra exit. The Mensez compound is instantly washed away with urine, which releases the menstrual fluid along with the urine into the toilet every time a woman urinates. No pads or tampons are needed. Safe, secure and clean.”

At this stage you might be thinking this is some sick joke. But Mr Dopps confirmed in an interview with Forbes that he fully intended on going ahead with the product, and that at least one personal hygiene company has 'shown interest' since he registered the patent in January.

Of course, many women have already criticised him for his product idea, with one woman sharing this scathing post on Facebook.

Mr Dopps has not taken this criticism lightly, even responding to one woman's criticism on his page with this...puzzling response:

“[Y]ou as a woman should have come up with a better solution than diapers and plugs, but you didn’t. Reason being women are focused on and distracted by your period 25% of the time, making them far less productive than they could be. Women tend to be far more creative than men, but their periods that [sic] stifle them and play with their heads.”

We're still crossing our fingers that this guy's a troll at this point.

Facebook has taken the hint and removed his page from the site, but Mr Dopps is currently working to get it back.
