Australian fashion week is coming

It’s that time again! The time to pull your best street style outfits, polish up on your knowledge of local designers and to countdown to Australia’s biggest fashion week: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia.

Coming back to Sydney in May, MBFWA marks the biggest week for Aussie labels, complete with visiting celebrities and designers, and plenty of open-to-the-public events. Below, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about the event.

What dates does MBFWA run on?

MBFWA will run from the 12th to the 18th of May, 2019.

Where is MBFWA held?

The base for MBFWA is at Carriageworks in Sydney, however some designers choose to show elsewhere. The opening show is often held off site. In 2017, Dion Lee showed at the Sydney Opera House.

Which designers are showing?

The schedule and the full list of designers has been confirmed, with a few highlights. Tigerlily are returning to MBFWA after a 17-year hiatus, Bassike will show their resort collection and US-based Jonathan Simkhai will show during the week. Below, every designer showing:

Who’s this year’s Mercedes Benz Designer?

Aje has been announced as the 2019 Mercedes Benz designer, with the duo behind the label, Edwina Forest and Adrian Norris, being tapped for the honour. Aje will open the week, showing what will no doubt be a spectacular show in an awe-stopping location.

Which season does the week show?

MBFWA will show the Resort 2020 season.
