When news of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s split was announced over the weekend, the actor and musician were on opposite sides of the world mending their broken hearts. Liam took off to Australia to spend family time with his older brother, Chris Hemsworth, in Byron Bay, while Miley has been posting photos from a girl’s trip in Italy, sans wedding ring.
Just hours before a rep for Miley confirmed the end of her marriage to Liam, the 26-year-old singer was photographed kissing The Hills star Kaitlynn Carter, who recently announced a divorce of her own earlier this month, ending her one year marriage to Brody Jenner.
After photos (which you can see here) were taken showing Miley and Kaitlynn kissing on a yacht, a source told PEOPLE that the pair is “just having fun” together.
The two women have been documenting their European holiday on social media, joined by Miley’s older sister, Brandi Cyrus, however, both have gone silent on social media following the confirmation of Miley and Liam’s split.
“This split isn’t shocking to people who are actually with them every day,” a source told PEOPLE of the break up. “After they reunited, everyone thought they were this ‘perfect’ couple, but they still had a lot of issues. They’re not on the same page when it comes to a lot of fundamental things that make a relationship work,” they added. “It’s not surprising at all.”
