Friends and family have paid tribute to a 28-year-old American woman after her remains were found stuffed in two suitcases in a car in Oregon.

The decapitated, dismembered body of Sara Zghoul was discovered by police in the boot of a BMW on Thursday, Fox reports.

Ms Zghoul was an actress, model and voice-over artist, and had one son.

As The Sun reports, a man who was found in a gorge with self-inflicted slash wounds to his wrists and throat has been arrested in connection with the murder.

Ms Zghoul has been remembered for her generosity and kindness.

“Sara was funny, kind and a great mother,” a family friend shared on Twitter. “She was the kind of person to give you the shirt off her back.”

Portland activist Gregory McKelvey told the Oregonian that Ms Zghoul “was known for being a great person and she touched so many people.”

He added: “It felt like she knew everyone and losing her is a big loss for the community”.

Police will identify the identity of the suspect “at a later date”.
