This Is The Most Common Birthday In Australia

Makes sense!

If you feel like September is a month of never-ending birthdays, you’re not alone.

Turns out the most common birthday in Australia over the past 10 years is September 17, according to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. And, as The Herald Sun reports, it’s likely the festive season contributed to the number of babies born on that day.

April 8 was the second most common birthday, followed by September 23, September 24/October 1 and then February 12.

Knocked Up

“More babies are likely to be conceived around the Christmas and New Year holidays, [while] fewer babies are born on public holidays – possibly a result of doctors scheduling deliveries on non-public holidays,” Beidar Cho, the bureau’s director of demography told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“These trends are similar in New Zealand, England and Wales, and the United States.”

Australia Day, New Year’s Day, Boxing Day, and Christmas Day are among the five least popular birthdays. But hey, at least you get a day off to celebrate!
