While Kim Cattrall’s inimitable Samantha Jones will not be returning for the upcoming Sex and the City TV series reboot, Chris Noth will. The 66-year-old actor will be once again stepping into the role of Mr. Big, alongside Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw in the forthcoming series titled And Just Like That. Truly a reunion for the books.
HBO Max confirmed the news on May 26, sharing that the divisive character will be coming back. The Sex and the City reboot series will be executive produced by Michael Patrick King. Speaking about Noth’s return, King said he was “thrilled to be working with Chris again,” noting “How could we ever do a new chapter of the Sex and the City story without our Mr. Big?”
Eagers fans will recall that just a few months ago reports were circulating that suggested that Noth wouldn’t be returning to the And Just Like That follow-up series. Noth cryptically shared a note on Instagram at the time, “Everything changes—including announcements in the rags.”
Mr. Big, despite appearing in countless ‘worst boyfriends of TV’ lists strewn across the internet, was Carrie’s significant on-again-off-again partner throughout the original Sex and the City series. The subsequent series of SATC film spin-offs also saw the turbulent couple eventually come together.
For those not yet across the highly anticipated reboot series, the show will follow “Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.”
At this stage, it’s uncertain if another high-profile Sex and the City boyfriend, John Corbett who played Aidan, will return. That said, rumours are swirling and fans are hopeful.
