The family has suffered another heartbreaking tragedy

Just weeks after his daughter’s killer Vincent Stanford was sentenced to life in prison, Robert Scott has tragically died after being crushed by a falling tree.

It is believed that Scott, a retired teacher in his 60s, was working to clear trees on the rural property when he was struck down.

Mr Scott was pictured throughout his daughter’s murder trial, standing next to his wife Merrilyn as she read out a powerful victim’s impact statement.

Following the trial, Merrilyn Scott spoke about the “harrowing” 18 months she and her family had endured.

“So much has been taken away from us. Stephanie has had everything taken away from her,” she said. “Losing her has shattered so many lives and we are all struggling with the consequences.”

Soon after her death, Bob, as he was affectionately known, spoke to a crowd of hundreds gathered on what would have been Stephanie’s wedding day.

“Unfortunately, she was taken away from us for a short time but now we’ve got her back and we will restore her dignity,” he said as he stood by his family.

“Stephanie was a bubbly, bright, witty, intelligent fun-loving girl who has obviously impacted on many people here to today and our wishes for the future are that that will continue in your minds. You remember her as the girl she was and I’m sure wherever she is now that she would wish that to be the case and maintain that as you remember her, as that great little girl she was.”
