‘Clean beauty’ has gained traction in recent years and while many of us can probably list some natural and organic skincare, haircare and makeup brands that we know and love, natural fragrances can be somewhat harder to find.
With many mainstream or popular signature scents containing alcohol, parabens, acetone and ethanol, it’s not always easy to track down a natural alternative that still appeals to your olfactory instincts.

A cult classic, Kai’s refreshing spritz became popular among Hollywood celebrities in the early 2000s (Oprah and Jennifer Aniston are among its many famous fans).
The brand’s new Rose variation is a more romantic take on the original scent, which centred around gardenia as the hero note. All of the brand’s products are free from parabens, sulphates and phosphates, and are also cruelty-free and vegan.

Hermetica Megaflower EDP
It might sit a steeper price point, but Hermetica’s unisex scent is worth it. Categorised as an oriental fragrance, it’s completely alcohol-free.
You can wear it alone or layer it with other Hermetica fragrances; it’s been designed as a base product that enhances other scents making it a great gift for someone who loves perfume.

Lavanila Vanilla Coconut Healthy Fragrance
What constitutes as a ‘healthy’ fragrance? Lavanila says their fragrances help us make the right choices about what we put on our bodies.
That means steering clear of harsh chemicals and parabens, and providing an alternative to the many petroleum-based perfumes on the market. Aside from the healthy formula, you’ll find it hard to part with this soothing Madagascan vanilla and coconut scent.

Aura-Soma Parfum 44
Aura-Soma’s Parfum 44 is a deep, woody juice with notes of orris, cedar wood and violet. All of its ingredients are comprised of organic essential oils, and pure organic grain alcohol.
It also features a natural dupe of the musk scent—you mightn’t know that the smell we know as musk today originated from the Musk Deer, and is now outlawed due to animal cruelty.
