Categorised by Netflix as ‘cynical’ and ‘irreverent, it’s about “angsty Syd navigating high school awkwardness, family drama and an unrequited crush on her best friend while trying to rein in her budding superpowers”.
Playing the role of Syd is IT’s Sophia Lillis.
“Though she views herself as painfully average, she is far from it, as she discovers she has telekinetic powers which may prove to be problematic,” reads the official character description.
Wyatt Oleff (also from IT) plays Stanley Barber, Syd's “adorably awkward but cool with it" neighbour who is "the polar opposite of a jock".
"He’s ‘the geek who is not cool, only he is cool by being uncool.’ He has a slightly awkward self-confidence that is well beyond his years.”
Other cast members include Sofia Bryant (The Good Wife, The Code) as Syd’s best-friend and love interest Dina, Kathleen Rose Perkins (Episodes, You’re the Worst) as Syd’s mum, Aidan Wojtak-Hissong (The Mission, Falling Water) as her younger brother Liam, and Richard Ellis as Dina’s jock boyfriend.
The half-hour episodes will be available to stream on Netflix from February 26, 2020.
