If you’ve been asking “Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?” for years, we finally have an answer. She’s coming to Netflix next year.
Jane the Virgin actress Gina Rodriguez will star as the red-coated thief in a live-action film for Netflix that we’re unashamedly excited about.
For those who didn’t spend hours playing the legendary computer game (or watching the series), Sandiego is a globe-trotting criminal mastermind who is pursued by the ACME detective agency.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the Netflix film will be produced by Rodriguez and follow a standalone adventure of Sandiego. It will accompany an animated Carmen Sandiego series (also voiced by Rodriguez) that is currently in production.
Rodriguez was most recently seen on Netflix in the female-led sci-fi hit Annihilation, also starring Natalie Portman.
