‘Netflix Party’ Is The New App That Lets You Have Group Movie Nights While Social Distancing

Thanks to a clever Google Chrome extension named Netflix Party, there’s no need to miss out on binge-watching sessions with friends while self-isolating during the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.

Netflix Party allows you to do just as its name suggests: Have a Netflix party with your pals – but remotely. The only caveat? You must, of course, have a Netflix subscription to use it.

Once downloaded and installed to your Google Chrome internet browser, Netflix Party allows you to either create or join a friend’s existing Netflix party where you can then synchronise your video playback so that you can watch the latest ep of Riverdale at the same time as all your mates. There’s also a group function so that you can chat while you watch.

So, how do you get a Netflix Party started?

Step #1: Install Netflix Party to your Google Chrome browser via netflixparty.com
Step #2: Head to netflix.com, choose what you’d like to watch and hit play
Step #3: Create a Netflix party by clicking the red ‘NP’ icon on your Chrome browser
Step #4: Send the URL you’re provided with around to your friends who’d like to partake in the viewing party

Or, if you’d like to join an existing Netflix Party that’s already been created, simply get your buddy to send you their URL.
